Kelly Day is an artist, weaver and dreamer who’s practice is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was born off the Atlantic coast of Canada on the island of Newfoundland where she spent the first half of her life. The rest has been spent in Nova Scotia where she studied Art at NSCAD University. She is a multidisciplinary artist who works with a variety of materials, mediums and processes, such as textiles and sound. She designs and creates accessories, hand wovens and other items. Her work focuses on biological forms, nature, systems, connections and the ties that bind.
“I’m not sure where life will take me, but I love the rugged Atlantic coast, the ocean and the mist, so I’m sure I won’t stray from here for long.
I have diverse interests; textiles, weaving, dyeing, designing and creating wearable objects. I also paint, draw, make sound work and other art. I love to write, storyboard and dream up stories. I have a passion for creating and beauty, as well as exploring truths. It’s really exciting when these things come together conceptually.”
I also spend a surprising amount of time baking, cooking and wondering about the universe. I hope you enjoy my blog . =)
